Requirements, license levels, and the issuing authority, sourced from Wyoming's official board.
Note the contrast inside Wyoming: electricians are licensed by the state with a real 8,000-hour and 576-schooling-hour standard, while plumbers are not licensed by the state at all. National tables that treat the two alike are wrong about this state.
| Requirements | WYOMING ISSUES NO STATE PLUMBING LICENCE and has no state plumbing board. Plumbing work is permitted and inspected at municipal and county level, and the requirement, whether a personal license, a contractor registration, or simply an inspected permit, is set by the jurisdiction where the work is done. WHAT THE STATE DOES OPERATE, and it is easily confused for a license: the Department of Workforce Services runs a RESIDENT CONTRACTOR CERTIFICATION. That certification concerns preference on public works for Wyoming resident contractors; it is not a trade license, it tests no plumbing competence, and holding it does not authorise plumbing work. BECAUSE THERE IS NO STATE CREDENTIAL, the portable evidence is a registered apprenticeship, through the U.S. Department of Labor or a joint apprenticeship committee, and a documented work history. CHECK THE JURISDICTION BEFORE QUOTING. Cheyenne, Casper and the larger counties operate their own requirements; smaller jurisdictions may require only that the work meet the adopted code and be inspected. |
| Reciprocity | Not applicable at state level. Wyoming issues no state plumbing license, so recognition of another jurisdiction's license is decided by each municipality or county that licenses the trade. |
| Renewal | Set by the licensing jurisdiction. There is no state renewal and no state continuing-education requirement. Resident Contractor certification renews on its own separate cycle with the Department of Workforce Services. |
