If you sell into construction, the team building Alabama's $3.2 billion Mobile River Bridge and Bayway project is seeking local contractors and suppliers. Groundbreaking is scheduled for October 2.
I followed the announcement to the construction team's supplier intake, then checked regional electrical contractors in American Trades Index. Here are the companies and the work I found.
Kiewit Massman Traylor is the construction team
The Alabama Department of Transportation issued a notice to proceed to Kiewit Massman Traylor, a Joint Venture , on September 25, according to the governor's September 29 announcement .
Kiewit, Massman Construction and Traylor Bros. make up the design-build team, known as KMT.
ALDOT says financing is complete for the approximately $3.2 billion Phase One construction program. Opening is projected for late 2031.
Phase One includes the new six-lane bridge, reconstruction of approximately one mile of the Bayway to connect it, and modifications providing three lanes in each direction across the existing Bayway. The full Bayway replacement belongs to a later phase .
Early site work, test piles and procurement of long-lead materials were already underway before the groundbreaking announcement.
What KMT is seeking
KMT's opportunity page invites local and small businesses to express interest in upcoming work. I checked its bidder-interest form .
Construction and services Materials and supplies Electrical, roadway lighting and traffic signals Ready-mix concrete and reinforcing steel Water and wastewater utilities Precast products and utility piping Directional drilling, drainage and fencing Formwork and geotextiles
KMT reviews qualifications and interests, then sends bid invitations as matching packages are released. Individual package availability and deadlines come with those solicitations.
The team's published registration process includes these resources:
KMT asks companies that completed its questionnaire before January 1, 2025, to submit it again.
The regional electrical account I found

To find electrical companies around the project, I checked bid records in American Trades Index , the platform I built to help salespeople find construction projects and trade companies.
One company was Bagby & Russell Electric in Theodore, Alabama .
ATI lists the company on an April 24, 2026, Mobile County traffic-signal letting. A public republication of the bid tabulation also identifies it as the apparent low bidder on that job.
The company's website lists DOT electrical work covering traffic signals, lighting and roadway systems. Its contact page publishes a dedicated Security & DOT number: 251-443-5902 .
Bagby & Russell goes on my regional prospect list because of that experience. The bidding record is for a separate road project; it does not identify the company as a bridge subcontractor.
For an electrical supplier, I'd begin with these two accounts:
Account Evidence behind the choice Kiewit Massman Traylor Confirmed design-builder collecting contractor and supplier interest for the bridge project Bagby & Russell Electric Regional electrical contractor with relevant bidding history and published DOT services
One project led to the team seeking suppliers and a local electrical contractor worth pursuing. One of those relationships could turn into years of repeat orders.
